3D Animator (Contingent)

SuperGenius is hiring animators for a 6-8 month game project.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of humanoid/creature body mechanics and physics (as applicable to each project)
  • Proficiency with character acting and accurate lipsync animation
  • Confident knowledge and use of animation layers, constraints, and custom tools
  • Work cleanly through gimbal lock on multiple controls, counter-animation against super mover locomotion, and IK/Fk switching and matching
  • Clear communication skills and organization
  • Follow established file structure and file naming
  • A solid reel noting the tasks you accomplished, and time spent per shot listed, if possible
  • Bonus skills: file import/export knowledge for Unity/Unreal

3D Environment Modeler (Contingent)

SuperGenius is expanding the 3D team for multiple projects. Interested?

Requirements

  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern modeling packages and techniques:
    • Ideally Max. Maya & Modo is acceptable for some projects
    • Geometry is generally clean and thought through with appropriate vertex normals
    • Highly competent in UV unwrapping and achieving appropriate texel density
    • Confident sculpting ability in Zbrush
  • Strong understanding of material definitions and industry standard texture creation techniques and software:
    • Must know Substance Painter and how to retrieve materials from Substance Source
    • Competent in high-res to low-res baking (this includes all relevant maps, not just normals)
    • At least a high-level understanding of texture blending techniques like vertex color painting and height-blending
    • Must know how to use multiple materials on a single asset
  • Basic knowledge of integrating into a commercial game engine:
    • Unreal or Unity knowledge preferred, but any previous knowledge is helpful
    • A solid understanding of game-engine mesh requirements: collision hulls, LODs lightmaps, and similar technical aspects
  • Bonus
    • Strong Substance Designer material creation skill
    • Excellent scene composition and lighting ability

Requirements:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern modeling packages and techniques:
    • Ideally Max and Maya is acceptable for some projects

    • Confident sculpting ability in Zbrush
    • Can efficiently create low poly models using Topogun or similar software.
    • Polyflow is clean and is animation ready
  • Strong understanding of material definitions and industry standard texture creation techniques and software:
    • Ability to texture in Substance Painter or similar software
    • Competent in high-res to low-res baking (this includes all relevant maps, not just normals)
  • Basic knowledge of integrating into a commercial game engine:
    • Unreal or Unity knowledge preferred, but any previous knowledge is helpful
    • A solid understanding of game-engine mesh and texture requirements
  • Other relevant skills include:
    • Strong anatomy knowledge
    • An eye for detail
    • Able to work with minimal concepts to complete assets
    • Able to adapt to many different art styles
    • Can work autonomously in between critiques and reviews.
    • Portfolio reflects a good balance of hard surface and organic modeling/sculpting.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Unreal FX and/or Unity FX
  • Popcorn FX is a bonus
  • Experience working with Materials in Unreal or Shader Forge in Unity

Requirements:

  • Understanding of animation and modeling workflows
  • Ability to create rigs that allow for a full range of movement, with a logical, easy to use and well thought out control structure
  • Knowledge of Maya, with an understanding of the dependency graph, utility nodes, and the use of expressions
  • 3DSMax rigging knowledge a bonus
  • A general understanding of the principles of animation
